Chapbook Prize Submission Guidelines

Submission Guidelines for 2009:

First Prize: $150 Honorarium and Chapbook publication with Amsterdam Press’ Gob Pile Chapbook Series
Two Runners Up: Chapbook publication with Amsterdam Press’ Gob Pile Chapbook Series.

There is no longer a prize for a single poem.

All entries considered for publication. Send only one chapbook manuscript per entry fee, but enter as often as you like. We do not have a page requirement, so use your own judgment.

Works may be previously published; however it is your responsibility to give credit to these publications and provide that information with your submission. We accept simultaneous submissions; however our entry fee is non-refundable if accepted elsewhere.

We cannot consider work from anyone affiliated with Amsterdam Press or Plain Spoke.

You should send us a cover letter including your name,  manuscript name, address, email address, and other pertinent contact information.  Include SASE for notification. Electronic submissions will receive notification via email. Mailed Manuscripts will always be recycled. Poems should be typed in a clear, legible, 12 point font. Poems should appear on separate pages. Poems that continue onto a second page should indicate whether the stanza continues with a “(stanza continues)” at the bottom of the first page. Do not staple pages together. Entrants should also include a brief biographical statement, under 200 words, written in third person.

A cover letter.
Payment of $15 entry fee
A brief biographical statement (around 200 words)

A copy of the manuscript printed on white paper in black ink

An electronic copy of the manuscript (may be emailed to editor@amsterdampress.net)
